From the owners…

“We have decided to sell our property (Hadlow Tower) through Castle Competition which will also promote Hadlow Tower public open days in 2019, as well as raise as much money as possible for charity along the way. We hope that Castle Competition will raise awareness of a truly unique building and allow as many people as possible to visit and spend time enjoying it.

Castle Competition has been created to benefit as many people as possible, by giving away guaranteed weekly prizes to win a holiday break in the Tower as well as the potential for a winner to choose from two very different but equally amazing properties to own.

If magnificent historic castles aren’t your thing, the winner could perhaps instead choose a luxury 3 bed Caribbean villa in the exclusive Mount Cinnamon resort on the beautiful island of Grenada!

Entrants are able to choose from 3 different types of charity, to which 5% of their ticket sale will be donated (at the end of the competition). There are also opportunities for charities to get in touch to obtain a promotion code to receive a donation for every ticket bought using their code. In addition, free breaks at the castle will be given away to various charities for them to raffle off and raise funds for their good causes.

We have pledged to make the Tower available to a charity supporting terminally ill children for the duration of the competition so that we can help make the dreams of these children come true. This is something very close to our hearts and we want to support this very special charity as much as possible. We have already donated a castle holiday break prize to the same charity and another initiative supporting a children’s hospital for their fund raising charity balls.

Why are we doing this?

We have had many amazing and fun times at the Tower but are now looking to move on. We wanted to use the media attention we received selling the Tower to help promote the property and raise awareness of the public open days. Last year we had not managed to bring this to as many people’s attention as we had hoped, despite being on the front page of Google if you looked up open days at the Tower. We hope that by promoting the Tower in this way, many more people will book to see it. The Public Open Days section of the website has details of dates and how to book a tour.

We want to give to the community of Hadlow. If the competition reaches its target number of 1,000,000 entries, Castle Competition will donate £50,000 towards the restoration of the original Hadlow Castle gates that front onto the High Street. This will hopefully cover all or most of the cost of restoring this wonderful Grade II Listed local landmark.

We also want to raise money for charity and, in particular, charities that have a special meaning for us. It was not easy choosing, so we let our 4 children decide and they chose charities that support deaf children, people suffering from mental health conditions, supporting ex-military personnel and terminally ill children..

Finally we thought that as the Tower is such a special building (it is Grade 1 Listed and thought to be the tallest Gothic folly in the world) we wanted to give as many people as possible the chance to own it, or at least spend some time in it if they win one of the castle holiday breaks.

We have had lots of comments from people saying if they ever won the Lottery they would buy it. We understand that the odds of the Lottery are over 45-million-to-one to win a jackpot of about £5m but in this competition, if the target sales are met, the chances of winning the Tower plus the £100,000 cash are never going to be more than one-million-to-one and could be far, far better depending on how many people get the question right!

Other competitions like this seem to have higher entry prices and we deliberately wanted everyone to feel they could take part, so we have set the price of a single entry to the competition to win the Tower (or the Caribbean villa) at £10. You can also buy a Triple Entry ticket for £15, which also includes 9 Entries to our weekly draws to win a holiday break in the Tower, or a Ten Entry ticket for £27.50 which includes 100 entries into the weekly draws. At just £2.75 per entry, this is the best value property prize competition we are aware of”

There is the very real chance that the Tower could be won at the end of this competition!!! Please help us to share details of Castle Competition to make this dream a reality.

Best wishes,

Becca, Christian and our boys xx
